Columbia Journalism Work

Here are links and PDF files of some of the work I have created as a MS student in the graduate school of journalism at Columbia University. During my time as a student I have gained a deeper understanding of the core essentials of journalism through courses such as ethics, law, business and investigative journalism. These core classes allowed me to shape my own ethical standards from class discussions and outside discussions with professors.

In the fall semester my reporting module focused on the New York City court system. The entire class was broken off into about 4 students covering each borough, I was assigned, Brooklyn. I spent countless hours wandering around the Brooklyn courthouses, especially the Brooklyn housing court. A colleague and I worked together for about a month reporting on the issues that Brooklyn housing court faces. For more information on that story click here.

In my Writing About the Arts class taught by David Hadju, I had the opportunity to interview photographer Matthew Placek. Placek is known for notable work, such as photographing Yoko Ono, but he also enjoys communicating the idea of memory through his work. To learn more about Placek, look at the story I wrote.
